How to use the standard calculator
- Enter the first number with the tactile keys or your keyboard, then choose an operation.
- Continue building the expression. Multiplication and division are evaluated before addition and subtraction.
- Use DEL for one character, AC for a fresh start, and +/− to change the sign of the current number.
- Press = to calculate. Copy the result or insert it into a new expression with Ans.
The % key divides the preceding number by 100. Enter 500×10% to find 10% of 500; the answer is 50.
What is a standard calculator?
A standard calculator handles the numerical operations used in shopping, budgeting, schoolwork, and everyday planning. Calcora presents those essentials in a familiar handheld layout: a wide expression display, a larger result line, raised number keys, and distinct operation keys. It works without installation or registration, and every calculation is processed by a mathematical parser in your browser rather than by executing entered text as code.
The display keeps the full expression visible so you can check decimal points and operators before pressing equals. Unlike a basic four-function chain calculator, it respects operation priority across the complete expression. This means 10+5×2 produces 20, not 30.
How to enter and correct a calculation
Use the on-screen keys with a mouse or touch, or type directly into the expression field. The decimal point supports values such as 12.75, while the minus key and +/− control support negative values. DEL removes the character before the cursor and AC clears the expression and result. If you make a mistake in the middle of a long entry, click or tap that position and edit it without retyping everything.
After a successful result, Ans inserts the last answer into the current expression. This is useful for multi-step work: calculate 7÷2, then enter Ans+5 to continue from 3.5. The copy control places the displayed result on your clipboard for use in a document, spreadsheet, or message.
Supported operations and operation order
The calculator supports addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimal values, negative values, chained calculations, and percentages. Multiplication and division take precedence over addition and subtraction, while operators at the same level run from left to right. Therefore 100÷4 equals 25 and 200−75 equals 125. A percentage is a postfix operation: 15×12 gives 180, and 500×10% gives 50.
Division by zero is rejected with a clear message instead of an infinite or misleading result. Very large or very small finite answers may appear in scientific notation so they remain readable inside the screen. As with all digital calculators, binary floating-point representation can create tiny differences for some decimal operations; displayed results are sensibly rounded for everyday use.
A private, reusable local history
Each successful equals action adds the expression, result, and time to the history beside the device. Select an entry to put its expression back on the screen, copy its result, or remove that entry individually. Clear history removes all entries for this calculator. The standard and scientific calculators keep separate histories so everyday arithmetic does not mix with advanced expressions.
The history uses your browser's LocalStorage and stays on this device and browser profile. It is not an account backup and does not synchronize across devices. Clearing browser data can remove it. Nothing in the calculation engine sends your expressions to a calculation server.
Examples you can try
| Expression | Result | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| 25 + 15 | 40 | Add two whole numbers. |
| 100 ÷ 4 | 25 | Divide from left to right. |
| 15 × 12 | 180 | Multiply two values. |
| 200 − 75 | 125 | Subtract one amount from another. |
| 500 × 10% | 50 | Ten percent is converted to 0.1. |
| 10 + 5 × 2 | 20 | Multiplication happens before addition. |
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to use the standard calculator?
No. Every key and calculation works without registration. The optional local history also works without an account.
How do I calculate 10% of 500?
Enter 500×10% and press equals. The percent key turns 10% into 0.1, so the result is 50.
Why does 10+5×2 equal 20?
The calculator follows mathematical operation priority: 5×2 is evaluated first, then 10 is added.
Where is my calculation history stored?
It is stored in LocalStorage in this browser profile. It does not sync to other devices, and clearing browser data may erase it.
Can I reuse or copy a result?
Yes. Ans inserts the latest answer, and the copy control copies the displayed result. History entries can also be reused or copied.
