Salary Calculator

This salary calculator converts gross pay between hourly, weekly, monthly, and annual figures using your working schedule. An optional combined deduction rate provides a simple estimated take-home pay figure.

How to use this calculator

Enter one known pay amount and select its basis. Set paid hours per week and weeks per year. Weekly pay is annual pay divided by paid weeks; monthly pay is annual pay divided by twelve. The optional deduction percentage is applied to gross pay.

Formula & calculation method

Annual gross = hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks per year

The calculator first converts your input to annual gross pay, then derives the other periods. Estimated net pay applies the single deduction rate you provide; it is not a jurisdiction-specific payroll tax calculation.

Worked example

An hourly rate of 25 at 40 hours for 52 paid weeks corresponds to annual gross pay of 52,000. Monthly gross is that annual amount divided by twelve, not four weeks multiplied by the weekly amount.

Why this is useful

Conversions remain consistent because every output comes from one annualized figure. The optional net estimate helps with preliminary budgeting while keeping gross and estimated take-home amounts clearly separated.

Limitations to keep in mind

Real payroll deductions vary by location, benefits, pension contributions, overtime, bonuses, and tax rules. The net result is only a simple percentage estimate and should not replace an official payslip or payroll advice.

Frequently asked questions

Why is monthly pay not weekly pay times four?

Most months are longer than four weeks. This calculator uses annual pay divided by twelve for a consistent calendar-month average.

Is take-home pay exact?

No. It applies your single estimated deduction percentage and cannot reproduce detailed payroll taxes or benefits.

How do I account for unpaid time?

Reduce paid weeks per year to reflect the weeks for which you actually receive pay.
